Welcome to Inde, New Zealand’s leading employee-owned IT consultancy. Big enough to work with the country’s largest customers, yet agile enough to make things happen without bureaucracy. Your effort doesn’t enrich distant investors — it rewards you.

Technically led and outcome focused, our technical experts – that’s you – lead the way for our customers, while the rest of us help you make it happen. The whole company exists to help you, help our customers succeed.

To support an exciting new phase of growth for Inde’s Data Intelligence and Architecture team, we're looking for an Intermediate Data Engineer in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch to work alongside a team of technical specialists and transform some of New Zealand’s largest enterprises through innovative data solutions.

Reporting to the AI & Data Technical Director, you'll be at the forefront of data transformation, leveraging the power of Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and other cloud data and integration platforms to create solutions that make a real difference. We keep our systems simple and agile so that we are not constrained by processes and procedures. Rather than offering "out-of-the-box" solutions, you will have the autonomy to use a customer-focused, cross-team approach to ensure we deliver the best possible solution to address the customer’s key problems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support implementation of modern data platforms for enterprise clients

  • Design and build data pipelines for ETL and ELT processes using modern cloud engineering stacks including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and other technologies

  • Leverage metadata-driven frameworks to automate data ingestion

  • Apply medallion architecture principles to clean, enrich, and model data for consumption

  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to clients

  • Take on challenging projects that push you to learn and grow. Continuous learning is part of our culture: we invest time and resources in training, certifications, and personal development every week

  • Work in a supportive, cross-functional team environment where knowledge-sharing, coaching and collective problem-solving are the norm. You’ll both draw on your team’s knowledge and contribute to upskilling others

  • Enjoy flexibility in how you work. We support hybrid working (mix of home and office) and occasional customer site visits, so you can deliver your best work in the environment that suits you

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Competence in data engineering and/or BI development

  • Experience designing and implementing advanced solutions using modern cloud data engineering stacks, such as Microsoft Fabric or Databricks

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and analysis

  • Expertise in data modelling, ETL, and data warehousing

  • Ability to translate requirements into desired outcomes and deliver complete solutions within scope

  • Capability utilising Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and other source control toolsets for robust development, deployment, and testing processes

  • Experience with metadata-driven frameworks and advanced data ingestion and orchestration techniques

  • Microsoft certifications (DP-203, DP-600, DP-700, DP-750) valued

  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) beneficial

Your capability will also include:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building client relationships (professional services experience preferred)
  • A problem-solving mindset and innovative approach
  • Passion for technology and awareness of IT trends
  • A desire to learn and grow

HOW TO APPLY

If you're feeling aligned to our values and Inde seems like the kind of place for you, apply through SEEK with a resume and cover letter.

If you're thinking of using AI to write your cover letter, that's awesome - because we're all about innovation. However, rather than sending the output, we're keen for you to just send us the prompt you would have used instead.

After reviewing your application we'll reach out for a conversation if we appear to be well matched.

We want candidates to be the best version of themselves during the hiring process. We value diversity and our selection processes are fair, inclusive, and free from bias. If you have suggestions around how we can create a great experience for you, tell us. Or if you just have a question, reach out to us on 0800 694 633.
