Senior Security Analyst

Who is Inde?

We partner with the technology teams of New Zealand's largest enterprises to deliver transformational solutions and lower their technology risk. Working with CIO's and their operational teams, our specialist teams ensure the complex platforms of these prominent brands are well protected and always available.

Founded in Christchurch in 2016, our aim was to create a company that could simultaneously provide great technology outcomes for our customers, while providing specialist, development focussed careers for our team. We were determined that Inde would always be a place where people loved to work and were satisfied and growing in their careers.

Our small start-up team has grown to over 50 with offices in four New Zealand cities, and customers throughout Australasia. We have been recognised and won awards for our innovative customer solutions, culture, and strong partnerships.

The values that propelled this growth are the same values that form the basis of every decision we make today. They are the reason we are employee owned, the foundation of our autonomous and agile approach to decision making, and the reason we win contracts. They determine who we hire, who we work with and how we do business.

What are we looking for?

What we are looking for

You will need a passion for security, and the motivation to maintain a finger on the pulse of the fastest-moving area of IT. Always tinkering and learning, you are a security geek like us and proud. You will have strong critical thinking skills, previous experience in a SOC or MSP engineering team, a solid understanding of networking and Windows operating system fundamentals, and extensive knowledge of Office 365. Prior experience implementing and operating EDR platforms (e.g., Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike or SentinelOne) and the wider Defender suite is preferred. Similarly, a basic understanding of penetration testing and threat-hunting techniques and methodology is very desirable.

On top of this, you will be comfortable working in a client-focused role, possessing the ability to help customers make sense of complex problems. We work closely together. We are an eccentric bunch who are straight-up, hardworking, with a fondness for doughnuts. We are incredibly driven and are leaders in our field, and we love to pass our knowledge on to anyone we can.

In summary, the preferable knowledge/experience we are looking for includes:

  • A well-developed understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, firewalling) and Windows fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Office 365, Azure AD and the suite of Defender security products.
  • Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and SIEM technologies, including alert review, triage and investigation
  • Assessing and implementing security controls for Azure and Windows environments
  • Producing scripts to automate operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc
  • Developing and executing threat hunts across EDR and/or SIEM would be a bonus

Some of the key skills and attributes we're looking for:

  • The ability to evaluate both the urgency and relevancy of identified incidents in client environments
  • Strong critical thinking skills and an ability to apply an adversarial mindset
  • Ideally, experience in a professional service and/or MSSP environment
  • The ability to demonstrate troubleshooting skills
  • Able to identify issues and areas for improvement within process, team or services
  • Exposure to, and conceptual understanding of, incident response
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Client outcome focused

What are these values that mean so much to us?

Outcome focused: We strive to understand our customers' businesses, their environment, and the outcomes they need to succeed. We approach our work from the customer's perspective and prioritise results. The solutions we offer are designed and created specifically to meet the needs of each customer.

Specialists: We are a skilled team committed to being and staying the best in our fields. We use the collective knowledge in the team to understand a problem and offer a whole solution based on our customers business needs.

There for each other: We willingly share our time and knowledge to support each other; we share the workload and ownership, even when a mistake is made. We help each other learn and grow. We treat each other with trust and respect; we're friends and look after each other.

Willing to learn: We want to be the best. We value learning and we are committed to it. We share our knowledge and learn through our work with the support of each other. Our collaboration and our learning are not limited by the team we're in, there are no barriers or limitations on our growth.

Taking ownership: We take responsibility for solutions from start to finish. We're proactive, we use our initiative to step up and get things done. We take pride in our work. We own, communicate, learn from, and fix our mistakes.

These five values are the basis for every decision we make at Inde, including who we hire. So, if they excite you, and they describe you, you may be just the person we are looking for.
